Winter World Transplant Games 2008

The Finnish Transplant Sports Association will host the Winter World Transplant Games for 2008. The games will be held in Rovaniemi, Finland in 25.-30.3.2008.

The location for the Games is only kilometres away from the Arctic Circle in the deep of Lapland! Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland, is an international town of winter sports and is located at the confluence of Lapland’s mighty rivers Kemijoki and Ounasjoki. As the capital of the province, Rovaniemi has always been a gateway to Lapland.

Rovaniemi provides versatile sports, educational and cultural facilities. The surroundings of Ounasvaara provides a wide range of winter sport opportunities and within 10 kilometers from the city centre you can find undisturbed nature or a busy international airport.

It seems that many participants need to rent skiis so please fill the Equipment Rental Forms in advance and sent it back to Rovaniemi LOC via your Team Manager.

-13.02.2008- Questionnaire on Rovaniemi 2008 visual apperance!

Jari Jämsä Designed the Rovaniemi 2008 Winter Games logo and visual appearance as his graduation work. He would like to have your input on the visual appearance and on the visuality of the Rovaniemi logo.

-05.02.2008- Now you can order Rovaniemi 2008 products in advance via internet!

When ordering products in advance via the Internet you can save money and the products will be waiting for you when you arrive to Rovaniemi. You can also buy the products when arriving to Rovaniemi but we cannot guarantee that all listed products or sizes and colors are available then so please make your orders in advance via the Internet.

-05.02.2008- Santa Clause will visit Winter Games!

Santa Clause will visit Nicholas Cup and the Opening Ceremonies of the Winter Games. Santa comes to greet the children after Nicholas Cup and he will personally hand out the prizes to everyone.

-17.01.2008- Executive director of Rovaniemi 2008 Winter Games aims to go to South Pole on 2008!

As many has noticed the Finnish Transplant Sports Associations' Executive director Teemu Lakkasuo is planning an expedition to South Pole. Teemu aims to be the first Finnish person to ski the whole 1130 kilometres alone (solo), unsupported and unassisted.

Teemu also is spreading organ donation awareness as the Finnish organ donation programme joined the expedition supporters.

-16.01.2008- Waiver Form released!

The Waiver Form needs to be signed and returned by every person registered (competitors, Nicholas Cup participants and accompanying persons) to Rovaniemi Winter Games. The Form can be returned to Rovaniemi LOC with Medical Forms but can also be returned when arriving to Rovaniemi. No athlete will be allowed to participate any event unless he/she has returned signed Waiver Form.

-08.11.2007- Open Junior Category participation fee lowered!

The LOC has lowered the Open Junior Category participation fee to 260 euros as WTGF does not collect capitation fee from junior athletes.

-01.11.2007- Open Junior Category in Winter Games!

Open Juniors Category allowes juniors to participate Winter Games! The Junior category is available in 3 km skiing, slalom and Snowboarding. Juniors are also allowed to take part in relays and Curling. Download updated registration forms and Team Manager Summary from DOCUMENTS -page.

Participant registration is open. Registration folders have been sent to all WTGF member counties and registration documents can also be found from DOCUMENTS -page

Apparently some emails have not reached rovaniemi2008@rovaniemi2008.com due to some service problems. All problems should now be fixed.

-26.3.2007- Winter World Transplant Games 2008 Rovaniemi dates have changed

Winter Games competition dates have moved to one day earlier than previously.

The new dates are 25.-30.3.2008.

-23.3.2007- Participation fees and location information updated

Participation fees as well as location and accommodation information has been updated. There are two accommodation options which both are excellent and in close distance of all practise and competition venues.

The new look has been designed by a young promising Finnish graphic designer Jari Jämsä.
